Discover the art of “painting with glass” in this immersive 3-day portrait mosaic workshop with acclaimed mosaic artist Jolynn Forman.
Jolynn will guide students through the process of creating expressive mosaic portraits that capture depth, light, and emotion through the thoughtful use of color and value.
Students will create an 11" x 14" portrait mosaic of an animal or person while learning how to select and interpret color, understand value relationships, and translate photographic references into stunning mosaic artwork.
Bring a portrait image of an animal or person you'd love to recreate in mosaic, and Jolynn will guide you every step of the way with individualized feedback tailored to your image. Provided portrait images will also be available.
Whether you're new to portraiture or looking to refine your existing skills, this workshop will deepen your understanding of mosaic as a painterly medium and help take your work to the next level. All materials and tools are included. Some mosaic experience is recommended, but artists of all skill levels are welcome.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jolynn Forman is an award-winning mosaic and fine artist whose work has been exhibited in museums and galleries across the United States. Jolynn is known for her expressive portrait mosaics and innovative approach to “painting with glass.” With more than 25 years of experience and a master's degree in art education, she teaches high school art in Utah and leads workshops nationally. She is passionate about helping artists of all levels deepen their understanding of color, value, and mosaic technique.
