Workshop and Events Calendar
Thursday, Oct 29 and Friday, Oct 30, 9:30am – 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break
729 Airport Blvd. Austin, TX 78702
Explore one of the fundamental elements of mosaic language: andamento, guided by world-renowned mosaic artists Arianna Gallo and Anita Pilotti of Koko Mosaico traveling to Austin from Ravenna, Italy.
Each participant will create their own mosaic on a custom 11" x 7" cloud-shaped substrate.
The workshop will focus on cutting and shaping tesserae to create elegant curves and fluid andamenti using flowing, curvilinear, and sinuous lines. You will learn how the geometry of each individual tessera influences the direction of the line, with particular attention to trapezoidal, or keystone-shaped, tesserae. By the end of the workshop, you will perfect the shaping and placement of tesserae to create softer, more continuous curves and harmonious andamento.
