Ready to elevate your mosaics? Bring your 2D designs to life by creating custom, dimensional elements for your mosaic practice. In this hands-on class led by Mosaic Fest Featured Artist Dianne Sonnenberg, you will work with premium Pal Tiya to build a small bas-relief substrate or dimensional accent piece to mosaic after the workshop.

As a bonus, you’ll get three FREE Open Studio days ($75 value) at The Mosaic Workshop to come back and mosaic your sculptural substrate.

You will learn:

  • Sculpting and constructing of armature/substrate using aluminum foil, hot glue, and other core materials

  • Mixing, applying, and shaping techniques for Pal Tiya Premium

All levels welcome, and all sculpting materials are provided!

Please note that you will only be creating a sculptural substrate in this workshop. Three free Open Studio days ($75 value) are included to come back and mosaic your substrate. Open Studio includes use of the space and tools, 11am – 6pm daily at The Mosaic Workshop. Tesserae sold separately.


ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Dianne Sonnenberg is an internationally recognized indigenous artist born in Toronto, Canada. Based in Austin, Texas since 1992, she creates mosaic and sculptural art for public and private clients worldwide. Among her accomplishments, she was recently awarded Best Community Project for “Rise Above :: Stand Strong” at the 2025 Mosaic Arts International Exhibition in Orlando, FL, and the Members Choice Award for “Turtle Island” at the 2026 Contemporary Mosaic Art conference in Albuquerque. She is a sought-after instructor across North America, and coordinates community projects through her sponsorship with Austin Creative Alliance.
