We won the Circular Showcase!

We’re thrilled to share that our studio won the City of Austin’s 2024 Circular Showcase! We were selected to pitch for our process of transforming recycled materials into vibrant, long-lasting murals that supports our community and the environment. Since The Mosaic Workshop was founded in 2019, we have diverted thousands of pounds of tile from landfills into permanent public art.

The Mosaic Workshop accepts the cash prize at the Circular Austin Showcase from Maddie Morgan and the judging panel

During the Showcase, our co-founder J Muzacz and studio manager Zoe Axelrod presented our workshops and our unique process of repurposing discarded materials into collaborative art.

We’re proud to share the spotlight with other inspiring local circular businesses—Black Lives Veggies, Heron, Shop Slow, and Wanderlust Wine Co.—each selected for their zero-waste and community-driven practices. A panel of judges evaluated each pitch for circular economy impact, business sustainability, local job creation, and economic viability, underscoring the importance of our role in East Austin’s ongoing growth and revitalization.

Winning this award is both validating and energizing for us. With the generous funding, we look forward to creating even more community-driven mosaics, continuing our mission to uplift neighborhoods, make art accessible, and support Austin’s commitment to a circular economy. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us; we couldn’t be prouder to continue building a more colorful, sustainable Austin!
