The Mosaic Workshop is a creative hub in Austin, Texas that teaches the art of mosaic making through hands-on classes, collaborative team building activities, and monumental public art installations. We empower communities to explore their artistic expression, connect with one another, and contribute to Austin’s vibrant cultural landscape through the beautiful art form of mosaics.SUSTAINABILITY MISSION
We transform recycled materials like broken tiles, glass, and ceramics into community murals. Our mission is to reduce waste, foster sustainability, and create meaningful public art through community workshops and large-scale projects. Combining creativity with environmentally friendly practices, we help reduce waste and build stronger communities! The Legends Project is an ongoing series of mosaic portraits as public art. Some of the artworks are monumental murals covering hundreds of square feet made by dozens of community volunteers. Others are smaller in scale, made with incredible attention to detail. Our goal is to invite emerging and established artists to explore the beautiful medium of mosaics. Collaborating artists come from a variety of backgrounds with practices like printmaking, contemporary beadwork, painting, resin sculpting, and digital art.

We offer in-depth Mosaic Workshops as well as Drop-Ins where you can mosaic on your own schedule! We host tons of fun workshops on a regular schedule, plus specialty workshops, seasonal drop-ins, and advanced workshops led by world-renowned mosaic artists.
About our Weekly Intro Mosaic Workshop:
Open to people of all ages and abilities, our introductory workshops are the perfect starting point to learn the art of mosaic making. We provide everything you need to craft a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
The experience begins with the foundational mosaic-making techniques, from choosing your substrate and cutting tesserae to creating andamento and how to glue your mosaic.
Choose from shimmering glass, handmade ceramic, recycled tiles, natural stone, and more to create your mosaic on any of our classic or custom shaped substrates.
After your workshop, you will have:
A new appreciation for this ancient art form
Knowledge of how to create mosaic art
A handmade artwork to take home

Our Take-Home Workshops have everything you need to make a grout-free mosaic art piece at home or anywhere else. Pick up some for a fun family craft, have mosaic workshop picnic, or give one as a gift!
Each Take Home Kit includes a 10–12oz bag of assorted glass and tile, 6in x 6in MDF substrate, 3oz squeeze tube of WeldBond adhesive, and mosaic instruction sheet. Contact us for more options such as purchasing a stepping stone kit with grout, tools, or other special requests.

We love organizing pop-ups and adding a collaborative project or creative activity to conferences, team-building workshops, leadership training, art classes, school events, birthdays, baby showers, and more… You name it!
We can come up with custom designs to fit your event or branding or format your provided design to translate perfectly to mosaic. We bring all supplies needed for folks of all ages and abilities to complete collaborative participatory group projects live as part of your programming.
We can come to you or host you at our cozy East Austin bungalow restored into an art studio.
