Hope Hummingbird
Collaborator, installation
Hope Hummingbird is a ceramicist and street artist from Philadelphia, PA. Disillusioned by the 2016 election, she started hanging blue-and-white porcelain tiles throughout the city to spread a sense of hope and community. Hope addresses current societal movements by displaying portraits of historical people whose stories of strength and resilience are still relevant today.
Her work was notably displayed at the Philadelphia International Airport for the centennial of the 19th Amendment. She was a part of the LIVE NATION and Visit Philly City of Sisterly Love Campaign celebrating Women’s History Month. Hope has also participated in the Mural Arts Artists in Conversation program as a guest speaker and has taught as a guest artist for the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Now residing in Austin, she teaches ceramics and participates in community art and mosaics.
